Rojas had some interesting cuts and patterns; combining volume with tailoring and conservative with sexy at affordable prices. There’s something for almost everyone since each collection is designed with three different types of people in mind the Designer, androgynous and Simplistic. Eva Franco had a gorgeous ladylike and often playful collection from both the current and last season with polka dots, lace, bows and cinched waists that flatter the female figure. The structure, tailoring and sizing is perfect. Lisa Michelle Collection by Lisa Felsenthal was equally feminine and flattering. Lisa uses the “finest European fabrics and trims…with meticulous detail to construction and finishing, both inside and out.” Her beaded and sequined headbands, cuffs and belts make glamorous, upscale yet youthful accessories whilst her dresses and tops are cut and draped to flow and flatter in the softest of fabrics such as silk jersey and silk charmeuse.

Gone are the days of frumpy sportswear that doesn’t breath, is unsupportive and loses elasticity. Phoenix is well priced, sexy, supportive and functional. I’m loving their feather weight Yoga bra with spaghetti straps with turquoise accents; just wearing it makes me want to work out.
The variety offered at the Thread show really showed designers creativity and you’d be hard pushed as a buyer not to find something since there were so many different styles on display. As a woman one of my fears is turning up to an event wearing the same thing as someone else. However, since a lot of pieces at Thread shows are one-off’s or small runs purchasing here helps solve that problem!

Held at the Smashbox Studios in West Hollywood, and collaborating with Palladium Jewelry and The Palazzo Las Vegas, the glamorous event was hosted by charming George Kotsioupoulos of E’s Fashion Police.The highlight of the of the red carpet was Eva Longoria, who is always a delight, and wore Victoria Beckham. Others in attendance included Khloe Kardashian, Kristen Davis, Selma Blair, Camilla Belle, Mandy Moore, and Rose McGowan.

LHS: When did you realize you wanted to design?

DG: I realized it at a very young age. I spent many of my after school hours in a production company where my mom worked. I think it sparked something in me. I loved watching how everything worked.

LHS: If you weren’t designing, what would you be doing?

DG: I don’t think I love anything more than designing. I couldn’t think of doing anything else.

LHS: Are you inspired by your Latina roots and what cultures do you identify with in terms of design?

DG: I am definitely inspired by my Latina roots, it’s who I am and it reflects in everything that I do.

LHS: What do you do when you have time off?

DG: I love art in any form, so I like to enjoy it when I can. Anything from museums, fashion shows, live music, etc. Anything that is creative.

LHS: What was it like for you when you met Patricia Field? She changed so many facets of fashion and continues to push the envelope.

DG: It was an experience! She was very sweet and really took the time to talk to me. I was also lucky enough to have her look through some of my work.

LHS: Do you ever see yourself living in New York or Paris?

DG: Its something I am considering for the future. I would love to get out of L.A. for a few years.

LHS: Who do you dream of dressing?

DG: I am fascinated with Marion Cotillard and Penelope Cruz. Dressing any of those women would be well, a dream.

The evening raised 3 million dollars to go towards LACMA’s initiative to make film more pivotal to the museum’s curatorial programming, while also funding LACMA’s broader mission. The initiative will enhance the museum’s film program led by Film Independent’s Elvis Mitchell. The funding will also support exhibitions, acquisitions, and educational programming. In addition, screenings will be held to delve further into the connection between art and film.

Baldesarri said, “Well, for me film is art. I watch about three movies a night. So I’m glad they’re amping it up. It will probably be better than the Musuem of Modern Art. China Chow who partnered with Gucci for the gala, said, “Clint has been my hero and John is the father of video as an art and its appropriate to celebrate the inaugural gala.”

Evan Rachel Wood appeared and when asked why she supported LACMA, she said, “I love film and I’m a huge fan of everyone being honored, and Gucci-I’m a Gucci girl.”

LACMA’s Terry Semel said, “It’s big, it’s a very big significant idea that finally Southern California, the home of filmmaking, probably in more than the entire world, is a place where we’re now putting an emphasis on film as another piece of our museum. Photography has always been, other areas are always are, and now film will also be an important part of LACMA. More recently, the Tim Burton exhibit was fantastic. Coming this fall we’ll have the Stanley Kubrick exhibit, which I think will also be fantastic, and a lot more, so we’re excited, this is the first time we’re combining art and film in a big way.”
